Writing pedagogy has been a critical component of my schooling at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The largest component of my portfolio reflects the value I put in the power of education: both my own as I learn to be a teacher and my students’ as they learn the subject I have been charged with teaching them.
In this section, I include a wide variety of pedagogical resources. I begin with my teaching philosophy statement that reflects the importance of the innovative use of digital technology in the classroom that serves as the cornerstone of my pedagogy. To that end, I also provide examples of some of the innovations with technology that I use to enhance my teaching alongside reflections of the benefits and constraints of those technologies. Further, I include two syllabi that I have designed. One was designed within programmatic constraints (Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition) and the other was designed from scratch (A History of Global Englishes). To support my Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition instruction, I have assembled a list of resources that would be useful to any first-year writing or rhetoric and composition course. Additionally, I provide a collection of the worksheets I have created for in-class activities. Finally, I feature a PowerPoint presentation and accompanying infographic entitled “Accessible Design with Adobe Express” that provides basic instructions for the use of Adobe Express alongside an introduction to digital accessibility for document design.
